SAT Testing Information

The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is an entrance exam widely accepted at United States colleges and universities.  It measures what students learn in high school and what they need to succeed in college.  
 
About the SAT
 
Following are details about the SAT:
  • Testing Time: 3 hours
    • There is an additional/optional 50 minute essay.
  • Structure: 3 Tests + optional essay:
    • Reading Test (65 minutes / 52 questions)
    • Writing & Language Test (35 minutes / 44 questions)
    • Math Test (80 minutes / 58 questions)
  • Score Range: Composite 400-1600
    • Essay: reported in 3 dimensions, each scored in range from 2-8
 
 
Details, Dates, & Deadlines
 
Norwin High School students are recommended to take the SAT in the spring of their junior year and/or fall of their senior year.
 
2024-2025 Testing Dates:
August 24, 2024 (Register by August 9)
October 5, 2024 (Register by September 20)
November 2, 2024 (Register by October 18)
December 7, 2024 (Register by November 22)
March 8, 2025 (Register by February 21)
May 3, 2025 (Register by April 18)
June 7, 2025 (Register by May 22)
 
 
 
  • How to register online
  • Test dates and deadlines
  • What to expect on test day
    • On the day of a scheduled exam, the SAT will begin promptly at 8:00 am  Students are asked to arrive to Door #1 of Norwin High School before 7:45 am in order to be assigned a room so testing may begin at 8:00 a.m. 
    • Students must bring proper identification.
    • Cell phones must either be turned off and given to test proctors or not brought into the High School.

  • Study Point Online Practice Tests
    • Students can take a free virtual SAT (or ACT and PSAT).
    • Students who participate will receive a free score analysis that breaks down how they did by section, question type, and content area so they can get a sense for where they might want to do some review prior to the actual exam.
