Social Work at Norwin
Hi! My name is Mrs. Thompson, and I’m the High School Social Worker here at Norwin. My office is located in the Guidance Department, and I’m here to support students, families, and staff in a variety of ways.
I graduated from the University of Pittsburgh with my Master’s in Social Work in 2021 and have been working as a school social worker ever since. School social workers help students navigate challenges both inside and outside of the classroom, whether that’s providing emotional support, connecting families with resources, addressing barriers to learning, or collaborating with teachers and staff to ensure every student has the opportunity to succeed. My goal is to create a safe and supportive space where students feel heard, valued, and empowered.
A little about me: I’m married to a 7th grade history teacher, we have a one-year-old son, August, and a yellow lab named Stella. I’m a huge Alabama football fan (Roll Tide!) and spent part of my education in Tuscaloosa. I’m also a certified yoga teacher and enjoy bringing mindfulness and balance into both my personal life and my work with students.
