Welcome!
I obtained a Bachelors of Science degree with a major in biology from Waynesburg University. Following 2 years of scientific research within the University of Pittsburgh, I returned to Waynesburg University and continued my education to obtain a Master of Arts in Teaching with a certification in biology and special education.
Prior to Norwin, I taught science courses (biology, chemistry, general science, anatomy/physiology and forensics) within a private school for 2 years. I began teaching at Norwin High school in 2013. Since I began teaching each year brings new students, new experiences and new moments of pride.
My teaching philosophy is very simple; students do not care how much you know, until they know how much you care. I show my caring through mutual respect from my students and by trying to help them find their dreams and strengths so they can believe in themselves the way I believe in them. I was the first generation in my family to attend college and was once a student just like the ones I teach and somebody believed in me. I understand college is not always the avenue for every student, but believe every student has a strength and the ability to do well given the proper tools.
I was born and raised in Lower Burrell, PA. My husband and 2 children moved closer to Norwin in 2014. Jonathan, my husband, works as a water treatment consultant/specialist on a national level. My children, Maria and Landon, currently attend a local school district. Both children are very active and consume a lot of our time outside of school and the work day. We also adopted a mixed breed dog, Ares, 3 years ago when he was a puppy. I enjoy fitness, reading and spending time with family and friends. Altogether, we love the area, residents and experiences since our move.
I look forward to many more years of teaching and students within Norwin School District.
