Welcome!
Hello! I wanted to take a moment to introduce myself and welcome you back to another school year here at the Norwin School District. I am Mr. Cardiff. I will be your child’s instructor for the duration of this school year. I have been a faculty member at Norwin High School since the fall of 2001. I received my BA in History from PSU (class of '92) and obtained my teaching certificate from Seton Hill University in the spring of 2001 after completing my student teaching requirement at Norwin High School. I am a native to Western Pennsylvania (graduated from Penn Trafford in '88) and currently reside in the city of Pittsburgh with my wife and two boys. I am very pleased (an extremely lucky) to continue to have an opportunity to give back to a region / community that has given me so much throughout my life by serving as an educator in this outstanding district. Feel free to browse the material resources that I have posted in Google Classroom under the "introduction to the course" topic. Please pay close attention to the citizenship and notebook requirements that will be assessed every 9 week period when reviewing my syllabus / documents in Google Classroom. These are fairly easy requirements that should enable students that aren’t particularly keen on the subject to keep their heads afloat should they struggle with the content. I will be asking your child to complete a course overview / self-assessment questionnaire early this week. They will be asked to take it home and share it with you. Please review the questionnaire, discuss the course expectations within the class syllabus, and sign the back of the questionnaire under the self-assessment checklist so that I know your child has touched base with you. Feel free to include comments / questions for me in the space provided on the form if need be. Also, be advised that I have asked your child to obtain a 3 ring binder to meet the notebook requirement by the end of this week. Hopefully I will see you all at open house so that I can clarify the course and my requirements / expectations. Once again, I’d like to welcome you and your child back for another exciting and productive school year.
