About Mr. Caldwell

Work History:

Mr. Caldwell is currently in his 1st year of teaching at Norwin School District. He began his teaching career at Monessen Junior/Senior High School and taught Intro to Spanish up through Spanish 4 for four years from 2019-2023. He was also the English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for Monessen School District during the 2022-2023 school year. He now teaches Spanish 3 at Norwin High School. Although he spends most of his day at the high school, Mr. Caldwell is also the ESL teacher at Hillcrest Intermediate.

 

Educational Background:

In 2015, Mr. Caldwell graduated from Greensburg-Salem High School. He was inspired by his Spanish teachers and decided to pursue a career in the field of education.

 

In 2019, he graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S.ed in Spanish Education PK-12 in addition to a B.A. in Spanish. During his time at IUP, he pursued many educational experiences and received several accolades, including being awarded the Gilman International Scholarship, which helped him make the most of his upcoming study abroad experience.

 

Through the program at IUP, he studied abroad for a semester in la Universidad de Valladolid located in Valladolid, Spain. He lived with a Spanish host family during his time there, took courses that were all completely in Spanish in a variety of subjects, and fully immersed himself in a variety of cultural experiences. Mr. Caldwell incorporates what he has learned from these experiences into his lessons to make his students’ learning more meaningful and contextual.

 

Mr. Caldwell furthered his education while working full time as a teacher. In 2022, he received his M.S.ed in English as a Second Language PK-12 from PennWest California.

 

Travel Experiences:

Mr. Caldwell makes every effort to travel as much as he can. He enjoys visiting new places with his wife, Cassie. He especially has a passion for visiting Spanish-speaking countries, but enjoys learning about all other cultures as well. In addition to his experiences in Spain, other Spanish-speaking countries and territories include Costa Rica, Mexico, the Dominican Republic, and Puerto Rico. Aside from these places, he has also been to Aruba, Canada, Croatia, Denmark, England, France, Germany, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Morocco, and The Netherlands.
