Welcome to the Model UN!
The Model UN is a club that is geared towards creating a better understanding of world problems and events. The Model UN provides students with the opportunity to take on the role of a United Nations member and participate in different discussions and conferences where the problems are debated. The club also provides students with the chance to improve their speaking and debating skills since they will be required to speak in front of large groups of people at conferences.

The Model UN meets every Thursday after school. Please check the calendar often to see upcoming events and meetings that we will be having.

The Model UN traveled to Penn State November 3-6 for its first travel conference. The students were involved with Crisis Committees that varied from the Mongol Horde to the Succession of California in 2020. Twenty two students from Norwin traveled to Penn State for a fun filled exciting weekend. Charlie Blenko took first place for the Succession of California in 2020 and Madison Stanley also took first place for the Undivided Kingdom in 2040. Sebastian Pratt took honorable mention representing the Undivided Kingdom of 2040 and Diego De La Fuente Duran received a verbal accomodation representing the Succession of California in 2020. Seniors at the Penn State Conference

Students attended the Model UN Conference at the University of Pittsburgh on November 13, 2017.
At the Conference, Madison Stanley and Hannah Ellis took second place representing Ethiopia in the Security Council.
Norwin also won the Excellent small country award represnting Ethiopia. Those students involved were Hannah Ellis, Austin Kellar, Rachel Bartuska, Emily Moretton, Madison Durmis, Madison Stanley, Riley Wian, Nick Rigone, Vance Varner and Lucy Race.
On January 26, 2018 Norwin High School students participated in the Model United Nations conference at Duquesne University where 34 students represented 16 countries from around the world as well as a board of directors.
Congratulations to Emily Moretton for receiving the outstanding delegate award for her role as Nikita Khrushchev on the Board of Directors.

On January 27th and 28th, 10 Norwin High School students traveled to Carnegie Mellon University to participate in their United Nations conference which showcased the feuding families of Italy, the Crisis in the Balkans as well as North and South Sudan after the Civil War. This two day conference was the first time Norwin had participated in the event at Carnegie Mellon.
Congratulation to Sebastian Pratt for receiving honorable mention for his role as Francesco Pisani from Venice and Emily Moretton for receiving the outstanding delegate award for her role as Niccolo Machiavelli from Florence.
We will be finishing off our season this year at Westminster College on April 11th! Good Luck to all those students that will be participating.
