About Mr. Lloyd
-
Education History: I began my post-secondary schooling at Juniata College where I attended for two years; I then transferred to the University of Pittsburgh where I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. I later returned to Pitt to attend the school of education where I earned my Pennsylvania secondary teaching certification, then later a master of science in education.
Since the completion of my MEd I have continued my education by attending several summer workshops sponsored by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, and the Governors School for Education.
Experience: I began teaching at Norwin in 1994, which was the first year that freshmen had attended Norwin High school. I taught my first Honors Biology class that year as well as academic biology and physical science. Since then I have taught all levels of freshman and sophomore biology and freshman physical science classes. For the past many years I have exclusively taught honors biology.
In addition to my teaching duties, I serve as the freshman class adviser. I have been in this position since 1995. The freshman class elects officers, has an Anchor hoagie fundraiser, participates in homecoming by sponsoring a dunk tank, and hosts several after school outings to provide many opportunities for freshmen to get involved at Norwin.
Finally, I serve as the chairperson for the science department, a position I have held since 2007. As a department we are committed to remain current on issues of science and provide the students of Norwin with a solid science education.
