About the Classes

English 10: Similarly to English 9, English 10 is a general survey course of literature, however instead of being divided by genre, we will study literature by skill.  We will also read Fahrenheit 451, Macbeth, Unbroken, and Lord of the Flies. In addition to the readings, we will also write creative, informative, and persuasive pieces of writing and study grammar.  We will also prepare for the Keystone Exams that all 10th grade students will take in May.

 

English 11: English 11 examines classic works and periods of American writing.  We'll study our nation's history through the lens of literature.  The major works we will read are The Crucible, The Great Gatsby, and The Last Lecture.  In addition to the readings, we will also write creative, informative, and persuasive pieces of writing and study grammar.
